Homifreez, located in Ardooie, is an important producer of frozen vegetables, potatoes and fruit. The company was founded in 1991. Homifreez has an own steam boiler which produces low-pressure steam using a gas-fuelling process. This steam is essential for blanching vegetables. The annual production of approximately 30,000 tonnes of steam comes with significant gas, water and chemical use and maintenance costs. "We measure a lot of parameters of the boiler, both online and offline, but did not have an adequate solution to properly compare essential data. We considered it essential to gain clear insight into our water and energy use to be able to immediately intervene in case of abnormal peaks. The online Ikologik monitoring platform turned out to be the ideal solution for us."


Homifreez can accurately monitor various parameters since the installation of the Ikologik hardware and software. "Once the system identifies certain exceeded thresholds or deviations, it immediately sends an alert to the operator or engineer on duty", explains Koen Hoflack. "He can immediately take suitable action. Thanks to the daily or weekly reports on the water, gas and chemical use, we have much better insight into the relationship between the use and the production. The central storage and continuous accessibility of all process data offer us the opportunity to immediately consult the graphs in case of possible issues, which enables us to quickly identify the precise deviation."
